It Has Finally Arrived

It has finally arrived. Marching season. The training has begun and the long practices will soon begin and in July band camp will start. We will complain that it is too hot, the sun is in our eyes, we are thirsty, we want to go home, or our feet hurt, and many more complaints that we create. But by August something will start to stir inside us, some weird feeling that something is happening. Then when we perform at the first competition that feeling suddenly grows larger. When the awards are announced and we have won 1rst place we finally realize what was stirring inside us. We realize that what we were creating in the blazing sun and the extreme temperatures was magic. Yes that may sound odd but we were creating magic. When the band has an amazing note that is loud and attention grabbing and the beautiful flag hit happens the audience is awestruck. There are no words for the magic that the Mount Juliet High School Band of Gold didn't even know they were creating until that very moment.
